Virtual Financial Asset Act in Malta
Malta's government implemented the Virtual Financial Asset Act (or VFA) in 2018. It regulates the virtual asset markets in Malta aiming at supporting the innovation of financial services related to crypto-assets while protecting consumers, financial markets integrity, and stability.
The regulation is supervising both cryptocurrency service providers and cryptocurrency issuers.VASPs must submit an application for registration through a VFA agent authorized by the Malta Financial Services Authority.
